In Thailand the HIV rate is growing among the “normal†Thai population. You might think that the bar girls the servers the tourist coming to Thailand is the big risk group but that’s not the case anymore. A well known fact is that 70 % of the prostitution in Thailand is for Thai people but it’s not as open as the western bars and go go shows. The western men and the girls that serves them have learned now that HIV exists and how to protect themselves with condoms.

Many western people complain that the condoms in Thailand are off a smaller size and sure that was the case before the durex condoms came to Thailand. Now Thailand can offer a different variety of condoms to all sorts of sizes.
If you have to visit a bar girl or a disco in Thailand remember that the girls that approach you most likely are prostitutes and should be treated as such. Do not believe stories that they just start working here or that they are tested every week for HIV. Use a condom always and never let anybody talk you out of it. If you like to start having sex with no condom a HIV test is just 1 hour away in nearest hospital I am sure you can wait.
