Lamphun is one of Thailand’s oldest continuously industrious towns. It was founded in 660 by Queen Chama Devi, the damsel of the King of Luovo (now manifest as Lopburi). Lamphun remains a little provincial position on H106. The quieter amble of the distance makes it an attractive destination for those interested in historical culture. The old city is in the shape of an oval surrounded by lotus-filled moats and by the Kuang River on the east side.
Today, Lamphun bland get its striking atmosphere of a scrubby but decrepit community. It is some 670 kilometres from Bangkok and distinct 26 kilometres from Chiang Mai. Located on the bank of the Kuang River, its attractions include ancient sites and relics as well as forests and mountains and delightful lakes. Lamphun is the most famous producer of longans. Because of Lamphun is very close to Chaing Mai, most of the tourists will take the one day trip to Lamphun and then go back to Chaing mai. It’s like a step-sister of Chiang Mai.
