The Phuket government are making the Jet Ski operators (read scammers) take an insurance for Jet Skis. The government in Phuket is putting down the foot after the scam was shown on TV outside Thailand and it brought real shame to Phuket
Every owner have to register their business and only 219 operators (don’t ask me why 219) would be allowed. Only local Jet Ski operators would be allowed and if they misbehave they will lose their license. It is pretty normal that a business should be registered and pay tax and I do not know why the Jet Ski people not done it long time ago.
I do not think the Jet Ski operators in Phuket will file one single claim after the insurance company take over the claims. Normally they Jet Ski get damage daily in Phuket and even more often if they had few customers that day.
The Jet Ski problem is not only located in Phuket but it happens in the other tourist destination as well but since the movie was about Phuket they got loads of bad press.
