Higher prices in Thailand on travel and flowers over Valentine

This year the Chinese New Year and the Valentines holiday will come on the same day. Maybe not the best of things to happen but what can you do.

This means that most hotels will be fully booked during the weekend ending on Sunday the 14 of February.

For the consumer the price will off course go up more than normal when the hotels, bars and restaurants will try to squeeze so much of this recession as possible.

Some places in Thailand will probably work together to push the price even further by creating a monopoly. Try avoiding this by booking in advance and make sure you check other destinations before booking.

If you are waiting for last minute prices this is not one of the weekends you will get your will trough. Many Chinese people from the mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan will come to Thailand as well for the Chinese New Year.

Chinese New Year also involves loads of flowers and that off course will lead to the flowers price will go up as well.

Our friends at Thailand Flowers Delivery will keep a low price as usual during Valentine and you can find them at

Happy New Year Thailand

The Thai police have warned that people might set of bombs and create problems around the New Year. Another high ranking military have said he see no indication on problems in Pattaya, Phuket, or Bangkok as suggested.

It really shows that they have no real idea what is going to happen. Thai people are not for creating problems during the holidays since they like to enjoy them so much.

If they have demonstrations they can even take a break during the holiday and come back afterwards.

The Only major problem we experienced in Bangkok was in 2006 when bombs were set off and created chaos around the World Trade Center in central Bangkok. Nobody has ever been convicted for those bombs and probably nobody ever will be.

Keep them in your minds

But we should not forget the South part of Thailand; people are dying every day from bombs and shootings. Almost one person per day dies in the war that sees no end in the near future. The people living in Bangkok are not really interested on what’s going on in South Thailand.

When we start counting in the New Year send the people in south Thailand a thought and also remember the people died in the fire in Santika.

Happy New Year everybody!

A update the Thai government in Bangkok have now warned that people from the South could come to Bangkok during the New Year and create some kind of problem. Maybe smaller bombs or some other trouble.
