September 29th, 2008 — Crimes, Drugs, Phuket
A Swedish man has been arrested in Phuket for the possession of Marijuana. He said it belongs to a friend that he wanted to help stop using the drug (not the best story). The man was riding his bike and was stopped by the police in Phuket and they found he drugs on him. Swedish newspapers talk about death penalty but since it is only marijuana that will not be the case.
The Swedish man complains over bad food and a hot cell he also says his lawyer want to take all his money and is not any good. Welcome to Thailand mate, make your self at home.
If he had any money he could have raised bail but he says he does not have any so he is stuck. My advice is to sell the bike the fat gold chain around the neck and give the police what they want to forget the door open and leave the country.

Now is the time to wear a helmet and bring your passport when you drive a motorbike a car. If you drive a motorbike in Pattaya from the 25 the last night of the month you are most likely to be stopped.
Thai police get a bunch of traffic tickets to give away every month and commission on them every month they need to finish them before the last every month.
Most days of the months they spend in cool police stations or doing something else, so when the month is about to end they need to crank it up.
This is the reason why you are most likely to be stopped and fined for the most silly crime in the end of the month.
If you do not mind wearing the helmet during the others days of the month they you should off course do it. It is cool to have a helmet and it is not cool to have your brain smashed on the street.
