The tropical cyclone Nargis is affecting Thailand and the government of Thailand has issued warnings to the following provinces:
Mae Hong Son
Chiang Mai
Tak
Sukhothai
Khamphaeng Phet
Nakhon Sawan
Uthai Thani
Kanchanaburi
The government said that the tropical cyclone could give massive rain and storms and have told all hospitals in the area to keep open if something would happen.
If you planning a holiday to this areas maybe you should wait a few days to let the bad weather passes
January 9th, 2008 — Mae Hong Son, Murder, North Thailand
A Canadian has been shoot dead in North Thailand by a Police Officers off duty. The police officer killed the man and wounded his girlfriend.
According to the Thai Police man he just tried to break up a fight out side a restaurant where he was drinking. He said further that when he tried to fire warning shoots the Canadian man tried to grab the gun and it went off.
He did not explain how 3 shoots could go off by mistake and hit the Canadian in the head.
In different western forums across Thailand the users are talking about everything from execution to jealousy and that the Thai Police man was a bad apple.
This is the second time tourist have been shoot by police in a few years time. Last time a police shoot and dragged a couple after his car.
October 9th, 2007 — Mae Hong Son, North Thailand
Mae Hong Son Province is situated in northern and northwestern Thailand and capper from Bangkok in the north at a hamlet of approximately 924 km. 63% of the kinsmen in the dynasty are members of the elevation tribes, among them the Hmong, Yao, Lahu, Lisu, Akha and Karen. Throughout the year, Maehongson holds teeming festivals and events. Tourists can conceive the digression cultures from these events. There are particular dances, rituals, and ceremonies for individual events and festivals. Even the foods are individual for each event.
The district is unseen with the haze all year long. Maehongson gains its heading of “the City of Three Mists” from the story that it has au courant smog in the winter, forest fire mist in the summer and rainy mist in the rainy season.
