Pattaya is not all about bar girls
Last night at the Strand hotel Pattaya Walking Street and open air disco with DJ legend Fedde Le Grand rocked the house with the help of the not yet opened club Lima Lima. No 1000 people that say would come in Facebook came and maybe that is a good thing because the place would have been too small and hot to hold them.
Normally in Pattaya, most places only fills up when you have a special event and place dance music you can see on any Pattaya New Channel that when you turn the camera on the dance floor it looks empty. I saw the white concept strand bar at Pullman’s only four girls rocking the dance floor. If you then go to any place in Pattaya that cater bar girls you see a different story.
Last night at the Lima Lima night gave Pattaya hope that Pattaya can have a great party that is not about taking a girl home for the night the few bar girls there yesterday looked pretty lost. Nevertheless, many of them also enjoyed the great party feeling that Fedde Le Grand and the gang behind Lima Lima gave us.
That crowd was a mix of Russian tourists, local older expats and their younger Thai girls, the Indian without shirts gang, the younger expats with no shirts but plenty of tattoos gang and some sporadic female expats and Thai girls.
I hope that Lima Lima can and will deliver what they promise on their Facebook that they will cater to people that love dance first and the people who love Thai girls second. It might help that the people behind the concert has Swedish girl friend and he think that she is the best girl ever despite all the other girls Pattaya has to offer.
Congrats to Lima Lima and way to go Fedde Le Grand you rocked a hot Pattaya!

Your Thai daughter in Pattaya
When I was walking in Pattaya last week I noticed all the mix children there are in Pattaya, it must be the center of half-Thai half-western children in the world right now. Maybe somewhere in northeast Thailand have a tighter community but not bigger.
In Thailand, mix with western and Thai called Luk-krueng and many of them are big stars in Thailand right now. Some of them have never been to Thailand before and some speak fluently Thai. Most of them do not speak about their parents and nobody really asks.
Thai Luk-krueng
However, not all the Thai Luk-krueng can be stars in Thailand and the fashion to be a Luk-krueng can soon fade out. You also need to come from a decent family and growing up with the grandmother in Essarn will probably not make you a star.
Now a few days later I started to thinking about the idea of all these cute mixed Thai daughters running around in Pattaya speaking perfect English, what will a dad do? Not only has he look out for the Thai guys that thinks the girls look exotic he also have to look out for the twice as old expats and tourist in Pattaya.
He cannot really judge the other men for running after his daughter because in most cases the wife and mother of the Luk-krueng are probably also half his age.
So will the father let the daughter date these older men or will he stop her blaming age? Will the daughter then blame the father to date a much younger wife? You know how teens are they like to blame the parents and the father will leave the goal wide open for fight.
Work in a GO GO bar
In a worst-case scenario, the girl might meet the wrong type of people and ends up in a Go Go bar or a beer bar like her mother. Believe me I have seen stupid fathers bringing back the children and wife to the Go Go bar where they met, what a total moron. That will send the most dangerous signs to a child that your mother think is ok and father think is ok so go work in a bar.
Move away from Pattaya if you have children
Pattaya is no place for this kinds of child to grow up, children should not even be allowed to be in Pattaya if I had my way. TAT can name it whatever children friendly city they want but sex drugs and crime day and night is not a place to grow up. If you have a child move away from Pattaya as soon as you can many other places actually have a beach that you can actually swim in the sea as well.

Normally I wake up two nights a week because of the garbage collectors scream and bang the bins as hard as they can when they collect garbage. If I am lucky, they stop to sort out the garbage in my street as well but that does not happen that often. I am so lucky when they do because the nice stench stays in my street for hours and in the middle of the night as well, I am so blest.
Then every month the nice ladies from the billing department comes and ask for 40 THB and I get a cool bill with no contact information or company name on it. When I once complained to the women that they had not collect the garbage, they just said they had no idea they just collect the bills. Well off course how stupid I am why should they know anything they just want my money.
Now the garbage truck has not been on my street for two weeks and it is getting all smelly and nice in the heat. I really miss someone waking up in the middle of the night as well so I called 1337 to ask what is going on. They gave me a number to the garbage people and I said:
-“Why do you not collect my garbage I paid my bill every month this is the second time now”
-“Why do they not collect your garbage?” the man answered.
-“Why do you ask me why you not collect my garbage?” I replied back to the man.
“Because I do not know why they not collect your garbage,” the man replied.
That was the end of that conversation and I still do not know why they not come and collect my garbage in the middle of the night for two weeks now.

April 25th, 2010 — Cambodia, Chanthaburi, Letters from the readers, Visa
I did a visa run from Pattaya to Prum in Cambodia and had a stopover at the beaches in Chanthaburi on the way home. The trip to Cambodia took about 6 hours with plenty of stops and with a speed about 70 Km/hour.
The Roads
The roads in Thailand are in mix condition and even if motorbikes should stick to the left lane on some parts, I found it impossible most of the time. People parked, set up shops to sell Thai ice cream (my Thai girl had to stop every time) or the locals used it to drive the wrong way and sometimes it was full with rubbish. I would never drive a motorbike in the night in Thailand because the holes that I could vanish in are so big and random you would never see them in the night. The worst road on this trip was the 3 from Rayong to Pattaya it is in really bad shape and the trucks drive to close for comfort. The road close to the border was 30 min of only us on the bike, it made for some fun driving up and down the hills almost alone on the road.
The Bike
Now do not laugh ok but I used a very simple Novou MX Yamaha and it was fine for me since I do not want to drive that fast. I was scared I would get a puncture along the way but we managed it back and forward without any problems. The hills were a bit slow with two people on the bike and it maxed out at 60 Km/Hour but we still overtook the trucks.
The Cambodian Border Prum
Prum is nothing to write home about it is a place for Thai people to come and lose their money in the Casino. I was the only foreigner there and even the military boss came out to talk to us because he could not figure out why I came there from Pattaya on a bike. The immigration was very talkative and had loads of fun of me going from Pattaya to Cambodia on a bike. When you come to the border get an entry form from the counter 6 and then pass the immigration as normal. When you pass, the border there is motorbikes wanting to take you to the immigration on the Cambodian side I paid them on the way back 20 THB. You can walk if you want it is about 500 meters in heat and dust but no beggars. There is a house and you fill in the form pay your 20 USD or 1000 THB and pay 100 – 300 THB in the next counter for exit Cambodia in one day. I could probably walked pass the immigration and walked in to Thailand with no problems because they are all set up in air-cooled houses not wanting to go out.
Chanthaburi
On the way, back we stayed at the Sawadee hotel in Chanthaburi for one day to rest on the beach and then we went back to Pattaya. Most of the hotels are around 1000 THB but there is no real beach road so you have to go down and check each of them to what you prefer. We had one other couple in the same hotel that night and normally Thai people not go there on weekdays. On the weekends, the hotels are full with Thai people. The beaches are nothing special they are very long and shallow, it is not easy to swim but a great playground for the children, and it makes for excellent fresh seafood.
Here is a map from the Cambodian Border to the beach in Chanthaburi province in Thailand.
