Fresh warning from the Thai Immigrations Police

The Phuket Immigrations Police have gone out with a warning to all westerns staying in Phuket. Do not deal with fake stamps if caught the offenders facing from six months to five years in prison, a fine of 1,000 to 10,000 baht or both.

The fresh warning came after a American name Jeremy Loud was caught with a fake work permit stamp.
He had hired Nattasorn “Somjet” Eadkanan, Managing Director Phuket Visa & Accounting and he had in his turn hired a man called “Nong Man”.

Both Police and Phuket Visa & Accounting was sure that “Nong Man” was the one behind the fake stamps.
We at PT hope “Nong Man” will enjoy the hospitality of the Thai prison.

The goverment cracking down on Teachers in Phuket

The local government will start playing hardball with foreigners working as teachers from New Year all 105 of them. We at Personal Thailand thinks the government should crack down on all the children not attending a proper school all 100 0000 of them in Thailand.

Following items need to fixed before you can enjoy the easy life of a teacher in Phuket from now and to the crack down is over, ohh lets say the 5 of January 2007.

The name on the degree and the name in the passport must be the same.

Teachers from countries where English is not an official language must present evidence of English-language fluency, in the form of standardized test. Is Scottish or Irish a English language?

You might also need a visa to actually be in Thailand as well.

The lucky teachers that already teaching will not need to prove anything to anybody.

The schools have already started to complain to the government because the agency that should approve the teachers can not handle all the applications and the children is without teachers.

The crackdown is likely to affect Bangkok, Chiang Mai besides Phuket the most, as these are the provinces with the greatest concentrations of foreign teachers.
