No flights to Krabi or Phuket in south Thailand

Democratic Alliance against Dictatorship DAAD is doing a counter rally against PAD. DAAD is a supporter of the current government PPP (People Power Party) and PPP is a proxy government for TRT (Thai love Thai).

The PM and leader of PPP Samak is telling Thailand he is staying put and will not resign even if most of the military does not support him.

The rail way and two airports in South Thailand Phuket and Krabi is still shut down and tourists are stranded. Most of them are going for busses back to Bangkok.

If you planning a holiday in Thailand then go to something like Hua Hin, Pattaya or something reachable by buss. Even if trouble will erupt in the Capital nothing will even happen in Hua Hin since the His Majesty the King is there.

Thailand in chaos

Thailand is now in a state of chaos and the situation is not as clear as it was last time. This time no one knows really what’s going on and rumors is making things even worse.

What is pretty clear is that the airports in south Thailand have been blocked by PAD supporters and people are having problem getting in and out. Some flights to South Thailand have already been canceled. The Bangkok airport is still under control but rumors saying that the demonstrators from PAD are on the way there.

The Police in south Thailand have little chance to fight back demonstrators but in Bangkok they can still do it.

The train service does not work and people are running to the buss station to get up north.

Thai Air union wants 15 000 staff to go on strike tomorrow and another maybe another 10 000 after that. This will stop the air traffic in Thailand if the PAD has not blocked the airport before that.

The union is doing this in solidarity for the PAD since the police used violence this morning.

The embassies in Thailand are advising people to avoid crowds in Thailand and we would like to advice people not to travel right now. Subscribe to our RSS and keep your self updated.

Thai police used violence against demonstrators

The police finally took to violence to take back the government house. The Thai police used tear gas and batons to claim back the government house from the PAD group.

Up to now the demonstrations have been peaceful and this is the first time the police turn to violence. There have been some clashes before with other groups but not with the Thai police.

Lets hope that the violence do not escalate even if there is some people on both sides that want that to happen and the military to step in.

No trains in Thailand right now

Politics in Thailand is now affecting the travel industry and the life of normal Thai people. The rail way union is striking right now and trains will be standing still from now until further notice. If you are planning to take the trains to somewhere in Thailand forget about it and take the buss or flight instead.

Thailand has very few unions and they do not really have a union law and union can strike as they like. Same with the recent demonstrations there is no real rules for them and I hope Thailand will make some or we will see more of this in the future. People with different interest will use unions for their own personal gain and send Thailand back to stone edge.
