The Editorial section of the Bangkok post the 23 February 2010 had this headline “Criminals are not welcome” but the questions is what do they mean?
Mayor drug busts this year
The Bangkok Post pointed out very correctly that the police have during the past week arrested a big numbers of drug smugglers carrying ICE to Thailand. Since the customs department never tell you the truth on how they know that people carrying drugs we never know if it was a tip off or luck. In many cases they get a tip off so that the Thai customs department gets a small bust and the big once goes free and I would not call that success. The reason why this ICE busts have reached the media every week now is because all of the people arrested were foreigners. The Thai people have changed their drug habits from Ya-Ba from Burma to ICE that have to be smuggled by foreigners. So the real reason behind the many busts in the media is because a drug border clash with Burma does not give any headlines anymore.
What is a criminal?
The Bangkok Post then rants on how some criminals were arrested in Thailand and waiting deportation and she names a British that maybe embezzled $150 million man together with some Yakuza killers and MC gangs. Now let me make this clear for the editorial your former PM beats this British Man in corruption or at least that’s why your newspapers is calling it “Judgment Day”. Then this British guy is not even convicted by any court and the judicial system in Dubai is very questionable. Many foreigners have fled from Dubai since they got blamed for the economical downturn even if they had nothing to do with it. I have no problem you deport any convicted MC gang or Yakuza killer from Thailand but should Thailand not also arrest all your own killers on the loose? After all the Police have a list of known a person that works as hired killers.
Pedophiles still in Thailand
Bangkok Post then mentions that the Pedophiles still find Thailand attractive as a safe haven but I am not so sure about that. They have fled long time ago and the once that are still here like the “Ghost” in Pattaya can easily get kicked out if the Thai Police stop protecting them.
Why criminals come to Thailand
To the big issue on why the criminals come here
- It is a fun place to be and the other criminals are here.
- You can bribe anybody from government to traffic police.
- If you pay 60 000 to a local political will protect you from ever getting deported.
- You can do a crime and wait 5 years to go to court.
- Your Thai wife does not care what you do for work as long as money comes.
- It’s full with Prostitutes and other Thai criminals so they fit just in.
If you are a fish and want to hide from someone you swim with the other fish that looks like you, I hope that made any sense.

The new Immigration chief in Pattaya really wants to make a strong impression on his first year. Besides the fact he want to kick out 1000 foreign criminals from Pattaya (will there be any people left in the bars?) he also want to stop all other crime conducted by Thais as well.
He also said that all foreigners tourists and expats alike muse have their passports with them at all times since Thai have their ID card all the time foreigners must carry a ID as well he argued. No copies of the passports will be allowed and no word if a Thai ID or Thai driver license would be enough.
You can probably expect more raids on nightclubs and bars and a constant passport check around Pattaya after Mars. This mostly happen when they change ranks in the Thai police and a power vacuum occur. That’s why the now famous Swat Sifu in Pattaya was arrested because he was friends with the former chief and not the new one.

Sifu strikes back at Thai Visa
A Sifu from New Zeeland have according to Thai Visa been arrested for pretending to be a Swat team in Pattaya. The thread in the Thai Visa forum have been visited by a unusual number of nutcases telling all kind of stories about the Sifu whose real name is Robert McInnes.
A new release was made today about his arrest where he told the press he said that everything on the Thai Visa was false and he did not understand why people talk so much rubbish.
I am all for press freedom and all that comes with it but just let people flame for 14 pages about how much they hate the guy they never met or know anything about is not news.
Most people in the forum looks like they only sit home and wait for another foreigner get busted so they can jump around in other people’s misery.
I do not know what’s true about Robert McInnes or not or if he ever will be convicted for something. Most people with connections in Thailand will never be convicted of anything even how guilty they may look. It is all about a power play since his former boss no longer work in Pattaya some of the new guys wanted to show some force. Last month another guy with full police lights on his car got arrested as well for pretending to be a Thai police officer, he as well had protection from a Thai police boss.
Never do it
I would like to take this opportunity to tell all you guys that want to get involved with different Thai governments or what so, don’t!
Some silly friends of mine were on the yellow side some on the red side and when the fight is over you can bet that the day of reckoning will come.
If you are “under the protection” of some local mafia or police he or she will sooner or later loose power and people will come after you.
When I first visited Patong I met the guy who basically helped build the place and he was just leaving with 2000 USD on his pocket after 20 years in Phuket. He could not stay because the new powers saw the time for revenge had come and all his old friends have lost their powers.
Enjoy Thailand
If you cannot stand Thailand and your only pleasure in life is to make fun of people on Thai visa then maybe it is time for you to go home to face the real life.

Thailand feels scammed by Sweden and Finland (wow that’s a first). According to the Bangkok Post the berry pickers that visit Sweden every summer get over charged and scammed almost every time they go there (pay back is a bitch).
The poor farmers in North Thailand mostly take loans from loan sharks (why doesn’t anybody blame them) and then they are off to Sweden to double the money at least.
If it’s a bad season or if too many pickers visit the same area the crop will not be big enough to even cover the trip and stay. They have to ask the Thai government to be able to come back to Thailand.
Bangkok Post also says that Swedish and Finish berry merchants scam the picker by have a scale that show the wrong amount (good that never happen in Thailand).
My impression is that the berry pickers get scammed by the Thai people that promise them that they will make good money going to Sweden. Why they spend 150 000 THB on tickets when you can fly Air Asia for much less than that. The truth is I think the Thai government should stop people from going half around the world to make some extra money. The Swedish and Finish government should not give visa to berry pickers, if they cannot pick the berries themselves let them rot.
Greed for more money will just lead to misery sooner and later and we have heard this song every summer about Thai berry pickers getting stuck in Scandinavia.
