Do not translate English to Thai

Thailand has arrested a few people on the grounds that they “did something that could hurt Thailand.” It is part of Thailand new Cyber Laws and gives the right to the Police to raid your house and take your things for pretty much as long as they wish. So what did this people do that could hurt Thailand that much that the police needed to take the mobile phone, camera, printer, computer, monitor and everything else you can store data on from their houses.

The crime they committed was to report about the health of His Royal Highness The King Of Thalandind before anybody else did and before it was official. They simple saw the news on a foreign website and translated the words into Thai and posted it on a Thai web board.
The stock exchange of Thailand says they manipulate the market by translating a few words of English. Even if they don’t know each other they manage to bring the market down 7 % just by posting it on a few web boards.

So should the people behind the foreign new media also be arrested then for starting the rumor or is it only when you translate the words into Thai it becomes a crime?

Everybody who writes something in Thailand should be very aware of the laws regarding the King Of Thailand and most of us that writes in English love the King Of Thailand but the laws must be clear and translating something from English to Thai should not be a crime or should it?

PAD on the march as Thaksin lands in Cambodia

One thing you can say about Thaksin is that he knows how to play on people’s feelings. After been appointed to economic adviser to the Khmer government he made some remarks regarding the people around the King Of Thailand. He later took those remarks back but the damage was already done.

The PAD (yellow shirts and airport occupiers) will now stage a protest until Sunday, and nothing good can lead to that. They want to escalate things with Cambodia since the Khmer government won’t give up Thaksin.

If it was stability the Thai government wanted they can forget about that now, the PAD is running in the next election and the Red Shirts are calling for an election now.
This thing could if people not careful escalate to a bloody mess stretching over the high season and beyond.

Thaksin supporter got 18 years for criticizing the Thai King

A Thaksin supporter and public speeches on red shirt rallies the famous “da torperdo” go 18 years in prison today.

She did not show any remorse about her crime but simple say she did not want to harm the Thai Monarchy but wanted to change to something like England or Japan.

Amnesty international have been criticizing the court for holding the case behind closed doors saying it does not help the defendant,

On the Thai visa forum the moderators are trying to moderate the reader’s responses since they have to follow the Thai law or risking being shut down. It kind of funny to sit and look at the people writing post and then they are being deleted by the moderation time after 1 sec.

I do not feel sorry for Harry Nicolaides

I know he did it for the money I just knew it. Harry Nicolaides the man who published 7 samples of his books and made VERY clear who had published them finally wrote something somebody would EVER read.

I am not saying that he wrote the book to get into prison or get publicity (or am I) but after staying in Thailand so long he should know the Thai law.

I do not know many foreigner writers that go trough such trouble as listing their books in the Thai Library and other places. Most books are just sold over counter in second hand bookshops and for the lucky one in Asia Books.

Now when he is out he can write what ever he wants and get published. But it is so boring to hear how terrible the Thai prison is and that they do not speak English. All expats know that and that’s why we do not break Thai law even if we do not agree on it.
