Living in Thailand is for most people a good experience. If they get sent here by there company and get a western salary they are all set for a good life. They can have a private driver, maid and a house or apartment with superb standard compare to what they pay in there own country. The problem comes when you are forced to go home. Some people even have taken suicide when they faced the harsh reality off normal western life.

When i had my Internet shop in Thailand i got all this Nigerians coming into my shop writing the Nigerian Scam letter. Sometimes all the computer where busy of just Nigerians or Africans as they call them self because most of them though that Africa was a part of Nigeria. Some they used our overseas call service and actually called there victim from the shop. The people that wrote the letters never call they just give his contact to another higher up in the scam hierarchy and he will make the contact and direct to his contact in that country. One day i spoke with one of the guys, Joe a Nigerian national that more or less lived in my Internet shop. We start talking and I mention my free web site for free fax. He checked it out and start using it but after 1 days of using it he got really angry at me. Telling me he wasted money in my shop and my free fax not work. I said the free fax work but maybe it was a problem what he was writing.
In short he wrote something like this

Dear Sir!
My name is Brother Joe

I have for the last year now sold of my 100 kg of Heroin in Thailand and i want to move the money to Hong Kong. I found your company in trough a business associate. If you like to help me move the money from Thailand to Hong Kong please contact me at email princejoe

I did not know where to run so i could laugh my head off. This guy actually believed that anyone would answer him and wanted to accept and move drug money from Thailand. I kindly told him that his story was crazy and that my free fax service worked but his story did not.He left angry and I did not see him for about 2 month but then he come back in a new suit and a fat role of dollar bills. I guess he change his story and finally got some on the hook.
If you get a letter from Joe or any other person clamming to have loads of money to give you or maybe want to congratulate you to a 10 million dollar lotto Price. You should forward your letter to this guy Mr Mike the owner of 419eater.com. He spends 7 hours a day writing back to this criminals and he even have photos of them on his web site. He thinks the more time they spend with him the better, they have less time to write to you and me.

Carrefour Tesco Lotus and Bic C are getting heavy resistance from small shops around Thailand. They are claiming that the mega shops putting them out off business and that they should not be allowed to be expanding anymore. Apparently they got an ear in the former government that was actually planning to stop more expansion in Thailand. In my point of view and many other Thailand expats living in Thailand its not the big stores that actually create the problem for small shops, its 7/11 but because that company is owned by a friend of the former PM no blame was put on them. Now i am all for expansion off this mega shops, who wants dirty, none air con shops with out dated food products anyway? And to answer your question they where run down already before the mega shops came along. Now today there was another scream from the “mama and papa shops” they said that mega shops are selling under buying price. But for me that is not a problem its all good for me the problem is a few small shops with no “cultural” value can continue stopping Thailand from moving into a new low price century.

The Thai Immigration police have launched a new service that make it possible to get an extension for your Thai visa trough web cam in Thailand. However it does not say what visa or how you going to transfer the money to the Thai Immigration police. The service should be good for people staying on the Islands like Krabi or Samui or in North East Thailand where no immigration office is present. Hopefully you will be able to extend the stay as well for people that have a year visa but have to go show them self every 90 days.
