The Ministry of Commerce has announced to decrease the recommended retail pork price by 5 baht per kilogram, starting today onwards.

Commerce Minister Pornthiva Nakasai elaborated that the current weather is more favourable for raising pigs, resulting to higher quantity of pork supplies to the market. Moreover, the retail price of the meat is likely to decrease steadily.

As a result, the newly-adjusted retail price for pork in Bangkok as well as in the central, eastern and western regions stands at 130 baht per kilogram at the maximum while the price in the North and Northeast is at 135 baht a kilogram and the South at 140 baht per kilogram.

Ms Pornthiva has also urged all butchers to sell their meats in line with the recommended prices as announced by the ministry; otherwise, they will face seven years in jail and/or a fine of not more than 140,000 baht.

Any unfair trade could be informed via Hotline 1569 of the Department of Internal Trade.
