The United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) core leaders, Jatuporn Prompan and Nattawut Saikua made their final speech on stage at the Ratchaprasong junction before turning themselves in at the Royal Thai Police headquarters.

Mr Nattawut had urged members of the protesters to understand their intentions to disperse the rally so that further deaths and losses could be prevented.

Mr Nattawut said that the rally would stop now, but the goal of fighting will still prevail.

Mr Nattawut had also called on the UDD protesters to disperse and go back to their home provinces. Meanwhile, gunshots were heard near the stage making the core leaders duck for safety, speculated to be from protesters who were opposed to the dispersal.

Other core leaders who turned themselves in include Kwanchai Praipana, Wiphuthaleng Phattanaphuthai, and Nisit Sinthuprai.
