The southern province of Trang is bracing for floods after heavy rain has continuously battered many areas during the last couple day.

According to Trang's deputy governor, Niphon Sirithorn, water levels in both of the river and smaller waterways in the province have dramatically risen in the past couple of days.

Almost a thousand homes in the city have been been affected by flooding since the end of November, leaving many flood victims in need of help.

Although it is unlikely that the water will burst the banks anytime soon, the province should be prepared for future flooding. It has been closely working in tandem with the army based in the province, preparing to launch relief operation once flooding occurs, added the deputy governor.
