The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will not be canceling the Loy Krathong festival as the country is mourning the death of the Supreme Patriarch, but it will scale down all entertainment programs.

Mr. Manit Techaapichoke, a Deputy Governor of Bangkok, stated that the Loy Krathong festival which is set to be held on November 17 in Bangkok will not be canceled. However, other forms of festive activities such as dancing and variety shows shall not be held in order to show respect to His Holiness Somdej Phra Nyanasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch, who has recently passed away.

In Bangkok, the main venue of the Loy Krathong festival will still be around the Rama 8 Bridge, whereas all the 28 Bangkok parks will be open for celebrants as usual. The BMA is expected to issue an official announcement on the matter shortly.
