The Attorney-General has announced an indictment against former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his former deputy Suthep Thaugsuban with murder charges stemming from the 2010 rally crackdown.
Mr Abhisit and Mr Suthep are facing the charges in the case of a violent crackdown on Red Shirt protesters in May 2010. Mr Abhisit was then the prime minister and chairman of the Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situations. He and his deputy are alleged of ordering security officers to use violence against the protesters, resulting in over 90 deaths.
The Attorney-General will summon the two people to hear their charges and bring the case to the court immediately. The Attorney-General also commented that the Department of Special Investigation had more power than the National Anti-Corruption Commission in investigating the case.
