Authorities at the Bang Sean Municipality have been inspecting and clearing the oil slicks washed ashore along the Bang Saen Beach.

Tourists on Friday complaint about the oil slicks that were spotted on the beach and most of them were afraid to swim. Officials from the local municipality inspected the area and found oil slicks along the beach over two kilometers long. The local authorities have been cleaning up the beach.

The Environment Office has reported that oil was mostly gathered in the sea, around 100 meters from the beach. Officials are testing the content if there are any other chemicals in the oil, to ensure the safety of tourists.

The origin of the oil is still unknown. Officials are waiting to see whether the oil will dissolve naturally. If not, local authorities will have to call in experts to clean up the area.
