BANGKOK :- The United states Embassy in Bangkok on Tuesday declared that the embassy and the Consulate General in Chiang Mai continue being available for the general public as the US govt started its 1st partial shutdown in 17 yrs after Congress couldn't crack a partisan deadlock by a midnight deadline.

The embassy published a statement in its facebook; U.S. Embassy Bangkok, stating that all consular solutions, such as visa development, are usually available for public.

The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok and Consulate General Chiang Mai continue to be available to the general public. As usual, our main concerns continue being offering safety, security, and service to U.S. residents. We're open for everyone consular services, which includes visa completing.

The shutdown idled as many as 800,000 federal government personnel, shut national parks and stopped some services.
