Former Chiang Mai MP Pakorn Buranupakorn has passed away of heart failure at the age of 55. His funeral is being held at Wat Chedi Luang in Chiang Mai Province.

Mr. Pakorn had been hospitalized in Siriraj Hospital before he passed away at 9:50am on Sunday. His body was right away moved to Wat Chedi Luang in Chiang Mai. The former MP encountered a heart attack on August 27th and was immediately submitted to the hospital. According to the doctor, he was scheduled for a bypass surgery before he died at the age of 55.

Mr. Pakorn Buranupakorn was born on November 5th, 1958. He was voted Lord Mayor of Chiang Mai for two terms. He was also one of the 111 banned politicians by the Constitution Tribunal for violation of election laws in 2007.

Mr. Pakorn was known for his effort to push forward the Chiang Mai Walking Street which has been the main tourist site since then.
