The Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES) has started its campaign to take children, women, and senior citizens out of the rally site of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) at Ratchaprasong Intersection. The operation will be carried out until 15.00 hrs of 17 May 2010.

CRES and Army Spokesperson, Colonel Sansern Kaewkamnerd, said the CRES meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban in his capacity as CRES director, this morning assigned the police to coordinate with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Thai Red Cross Society, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for the mission. The operation would also cover media members while the CRES promises to facilitate protestors who want to return home.

Colonel Sansern added that demonstrators with intention to leave the protest and return to their hometowns could inform the officials and leave their weapons. He said that in such a case, they would be given leniency in their punishment for violating the emergency decree.
