The Krabi Airport will be blocked if the demands of the Krabi Palm Oil and Rubber Plantation workers are not met.

The Krabi Palm Oil and Rubber Plantation workers are demanding the Government to increase the legal minimum prices of their products. There are more than 500 plantation workers gathered in front of the Krabi Provincial Hall last Tuesday filing a complaint to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

The complaint calls to increase the price of Raw Rubber from 81.5 to 120 Baht per kilogram and the Palm Fruit from 3.5 to 81.5 Baht per kilogram.

Chamnan Makpol, the protest leader, accused the national government of failing to provide assistance to farmers across Southern Thailand. He warned that if they won't hear anything back from the Government in 10 days they are going to block the airport. He added that they have been in a difficult period since Ms Yingluck was elected Prime Minister. The Rubber and Palm Fruit prices have kept falling, but she has not really helped them. She just works on creating her good image from time to time, he said. Mr Chamnan wants the Government to know that they are in serious trouble.
