Thailand’s car exports in March increased to a record high of 102,742 units, rising by 14.39% year-on-year, according to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

FTI’s Automotive Industry Club spokesman Surapong Paisitpattanapong revealed that the March volume had been the highest since 1988, valued at over THB44.5 billion. The exports rose by 14.39% when compared with the same month last year and increased by 8.69% from the previous month.

When combined with exports of spare parts in March, the export value totaled THB 64.5 billion, representing a 6.15% increase from the same period of 2012.

The total automobile exports in Q1 were 283,966 units, growing by 28.65% year-on-year, earning a revenue of over THB125 billion.
