Thailand's prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra says she is determined to prevent a repeat of the disastrous flooding that hit Thailand last year, submerging crops, factories and leaving nearly 800 people dead.
She unveiled her government's flood protection measures, as the rainy season gets under way and flooding concerns mount.
The government has built more flood barriers to protect important economic zones, installed more pumps and removed obstacles from rivers and canals to reduce water flow. It also plans to invest $11 million in a long-term water management system.
