David McKenzie golfer from Australia is just two shots off the lead at the halfway mark of Thailand Open.

McKenzie fired a second round of six-under 66 to be 13-under overall and in a tie for third place behind Thailand's Prom Meesawat.

Meesawat carded a nine-under 63 to surge to a one-shot lead at 15-under for the tournament and is in pole position to emulate the feat of his father Suthep, who in 1991 became the first of only two Thais to win their national Open championship.

McKenzie's second round included an eagle on the 14th and six birdies, but was hurt by bogeys on the 10th and 18th.

Fellow Australian Rohan Blizard is in touch at 12-under, while Scott Strange (-8), Brent McCullough (-8), Stephen Dartnall (-8), Nick Cullen (-7) and Stephen Leaney (-7) are also in contention.
