The ruling Democrat Party has dismissed the government's involvement in the recent assassination attempt on pro-Thaksin Army Specialist, Major General Khattiya Sawasdipol, also known as 'Seh Daeng’.

Democrat Party Spokesperson, MD Buranaj Smutharaks, has urged the government to find and arrest the sniper in order to prove that the government is innocent in the ambush plotted against Major General Khattiya.

MD Buranaj affirmed that such violent attack was not included in the government’s operation to deal with the prolonged rally of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD).

The spokesperson affirms that Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva always reiterates to security officers not to use force against UDD demonstrators if it is unreasonable.

As a result, MD Buranaj, on behalf of the ruling Democrat Party, has called on all sides to help relieve the political conflict as soon as possible in order to prevent more losses from such violence in the society.

The spokesperson has also warned UDD supporters to send women and children away from the rally sites for their safety as some weapons, including bombs, gas tanks, and oil, have been reportedly brought into the rally site.

Major General Khattiya was shot in the head by a rifle on 13 May 2010, and after that chaos was incited in many spots near the rally sites in Bangkok.

There are 11 injuries and one fatality reported in the violence, according to the report of the Emergency Medical Institute of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) or Erawan Center.
