The Cabinet on Tuesday approved a 952-million-baht budget for the Defense Ministry to raise pay scales for newly recruited military personnel.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Chalitrat Chantharubeksa announced that the Cabinet had considered and approved the conditions and new pay scales for new soldiers in the three armed forces. The pay rise will make soldiers earn equally to civil servants with the same qualifications.

Upon the approval, the Cabinet instructed the Defense Ministry to submit the draft ministerial announcement and the draft Defense Ministry’s Order involved, to the Office of the Council of State for scrutiny before further procedure is taken.
