Even if I really hate it need to take friends around Bangkok sometimes and I have to visit places the tourist places where touts and other low life’s hang around. I really hate it and I wish I could show them something else from Thailand but most people are fixing on the dirty river and the boiling hot Grand Palace.
I took a college from Italy on a tour one of the riverboats yesterday and I have not done that since I was a stupid tourist. We went to the pier and asked for the price, he wanted 600 per person, and I saw he gave another price for 1500 for two other people. I think it is so boring why they cannot have a fixed price and that it. This kind of things will just scare people away from Thailand at least for the second time. We manage to take the price down to 1000 THB for three people but I know you could get it from 500 THB on another pier.
The tour was ok we took a slow boat because I know that the fast riverboat make a lot of noise and I wanted to talk to them during the boat trip. They off course stopped and let some people try to sell us junk. I said in Thai they we did not want and they just continue selling, finally I told the boat girl to drive on I did not want to buy anything.
Next stop was something I do not remember but they just stopped and the boat tied to the house next to the river. When I asked, what was this stop for and she told me it was stop and said what stop and they said Snake farm so I just told them to drive on, we do not want any snake farms. The female drivers smiled and drive on and we had no other tourist trapped stop during the rest. When we came out from the small canal at the same place we started, I asked if she could take us to the Grand Palace and she said no problem.
About 10 min we arrived at the pier and the first thing I hear is 20 THB, the mafia in the pier wanted 20 THB per person for landing fee if it was from a Private boat. No receipt no nothing just 20 THB. For me I just laughed and remembered why I never want to become a tourist in Thailand again ever.
