The state-run technology and innovation policy office believes that Thailand is experiencing a serious shortage of experts on rail transit system.

National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI) is now on its search for rail transit experts.

In doing so, STI has signed an MOU with various related agencies and offices, as well as educational institutions, which will see a push to produce quality personnel with specialization on the rail system.

STI has stressed that Thailand is needing more experts, with good knowledge of theory and practical experience, to operate and provide repair and maintenance service for this type of transit mode.

So far, the country has been forced to employ foreign experts and buy overseas technology to meet its growing demand for the development of the rail transit system.

Meanwhile, Mr. Plodprasop Suraswadi, Minister of Information and Communication Technology, said that the government is determined to produce more personnel in this area to cope with an ambitious plan to expand Thailand's rail system, which should become more evident within 5 years.
