The flooding is one of the largest setbacks in the fight against the flooding of the Asian capital as the airport was being used as an emergency relief center including tents for 4000 people who were forced to leave their homes.

Don Muang airport, Bangkok's 2nd airport used by Nok Air, Orient Thai Airlines and domestic flights operated by Thai Airways, is still reported to be underwater with all flights transferred to Suvarnabhumi.

Internal roads within the airport have been flooded and water has poured onto the runways, grounding commercial flights. Several de-commissioned aircraft in storage, owned by Orient Thai Airlines have also been damaged by water.
