Deputy Governor of the MRTA Ronnachit Yamsa-ad has suggested that the new government should seek an approval from the private sector first if the 20 THB price policy is to be applied to BTS passengers.

The Deputy Governor added that the government would also need to consult the public before the BTS blue line, from Hua Lamphong to Bang Khae, begins its construction in mid 2012. He further said that more lands would not be disappropriated from the public to pave the way for the construction given that Rama 4 Rd was an important route for many commuters.

Over 60% of residential areas except at Mangkon Temple, Wang Burapha and on Issaraphap Rd have already been notified of the construction and returned their lands to the government. Meanwhile, it is expected that the private sector will be compensated should the BTS ticket cost 20 THB for every stretch. It is believed that once all BTS lines are completed, the ticket will be much cheaper as there will be many passengers using the service.
