The Department of Land Transport (DLT) has assured that the number of buses will be increased by 80 percent during the upcoming Buddhist Lent holiday to accommodate large crowds of commuters.

Deputy Director-General of the DLT Asathai Rattanadilok Na Phuket has paid a visit to Mo Chit Bus Terminal to observe its readiness for a flood of both inbound and outbound travelers during the four-day Buddhist Lent holiday this weekend. He indicated that the department had set up 12 teams, each with five inspectors, for ensuring orderliness at three major stations in Bangkok, namely the New Southern Bus Terminal, the Eastern Bus Terminal and Mo Chit Bus Terminal.

Moreover, the officials will also conduct stringent examinations on the conditions of all vehicles from now until 19 July in order to guarantee the safety of passengers.

The Deputy Director-General said he would soon have a meeting with bus operators in preparation for the large volume of holidaymakers while expecting the number of buses to be increased by 80 percent from normal. He insisted that people would be welcome to report any service inconveniences via Hotline 1584.
