Check your airline before heading to the airport if you travel to Europe.

The European air-traffic agency has said that up to 500 flights might be canceled today as an ash cloud from an erupting volcano in Iceland spread over Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Scandinavia.

Brian Flynn, head of operations at the Brussels-based Eurocontrol, said 252 flights have already been canceled because of the spread of volcanic ash.

The ash cloud from Iceland's Grimsvotn volcano, which erupted on May 21, has already forced U.S. President Barack Obama, who is a European tour, to change his travel plans, arriving one day ahead of schedule in Britain.

Experts, however, say there is little chance of a repeat of last year's six-day travel chaos caused by an ash cloud from another Icelandic volcano that left millions of travelers stranded across Europe.
