The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will start operating the extension of the BTS sky train service from On Nut to Bearing stations from 12 August 2011 onwards; the train service will be free of charge until 2012 New Year.

Speaking after the meeting of BMA executives, BMA Spokesperson Jate Sopitpongstorn announced that the BMA will conduct the first test run for the sky train extension on 4 May 2011. Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra will chair the inspection.

Other simulation exercises will be made from 16 June to 11 August 2011. The service will officially commence on 12 August 2011.

The extension of the Sukhumvit line beginning at On Nut station consists of five other stations, including Bang Chak, Punnawithi, Udomsuk, Bang Na, and Bearing.

The BMA will waive the fee for the service on the extension from 12 August 2011 to 1 January 2012 in order to help lower the living costs of commuters.
