Walkway construction joining Airport Link-BTS-MRT underway

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is expediting the construction plan to connect the Airport Rail Link to the BTS Skytrain and the MRT Subway system.

Director of the SRTís Operation and Public Relation Center Watcharachan Sirisuwannatat said the construction of the passageway joining the Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link to the BTS Skytrain at Phayathai station was currently underway. The construction is expected to be completed by the end of September.

The SRT is now in the process of selecting the constructor to take on another walkway construction project that will connect the Makkasan Airport Link station to the Phetchaburi MRT Subway station. The path is approximately 200 meters long.

At present, 15,000 passengers on average are using the Airport Link service each day. The train, which runs between downtown Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi International Airport, has the capacity to transport up to 100,000 passengers per day.
