AirAsia introduces “New Skies” system to enhance online booking experience
Low-cost airline AirAsia will launch a new online reservation system to support its shift of marketing strategy from mass market to segmentation.

Thai AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Tassapon Bijleveld said the company had injected over 100 million THB in renovating the entire ticket booking system. The new system called “New Skies” can support more than 1 million online bookings each day which is 5 times more than the capacity of the old system. “New Skies” has been designed to also support connected flights booking. It will be officially online on 11 July 2010, from 17.00 hrs.
BR> With the new booking system deployed, AirAsia plans to adapt a new marketing strategy shifting from the mass market to focus more on particular market segments with promotions targeting different groups such as youths, seniors, organizations, bundling of promotions, and variety of promotional offers. With 70-80% of its customers using online booking, the new system is expected to help boosting sales and hence the ticket price can be reduced by 10-15%.

AirAsia online booking system will be temporarily closed for 3 days from 12.00 hrs on 9 July until 17.00 hrs on 11 July during the switch to the new system. But the flights are operated normally.
